Zungzi Invests in Young Entrepreneurs
Up to GBP 20,000 Available for Unique Startup Ventures
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Nov. 19, 2010) - Bloomingfeld announced today that it will setup a seed capital investment unit called Zungzi to support young entrepreneurs and tech buffs in converting their ideas into bankable products or services. Zungzi does not profile itself to be a full-fledged venture incubator, but will act as liaison between the startup business and future investors or acquirers.
How does it work? Quite straight forward actually. Inspired youngsters are invited to submit their ideas through the firm's website for further evaluation by a team of corporate and technology experts. No need for exhaustive business plans, just a solid outline of what you like to achieve. Selected startups will be given the opportunity to present their concept during Zungzi's Talent Day. If successful they might instantly qualify for a seed investment cheque worth up to £20,000. Each quarter one batch of applicants will be thoroughly coached and given the opportunity to learn the trade of entrepreneurship in all its aspects.
"Innovation is key to our own survival in an ever changing world", said Willem Van Gulck, Bloomingfeld's CEO and Zungzi Coordinator. "Therefore we strongly believe that any support given to young entrepreneurs might encourage others to go boldly ahead in accomplishing their own ideas, transforming our mutual challenges into change."
A major feature of Zungzi is its social responsibility and environmental awareness scope. Their portfolio is not limited to one particular industry, although applications in cleantech, information technology and healthcare seem to be doing quite well.
"In the UK talent is omnipresent, it should therefore be given equal opportunities to be able to distinguish itself by its proper accomplishments. However, making a good start is not only about combining ideas and funds, it requires a willingness to improve the way we live without changing the world we live in. There's no challenge in trying to be the next Google or Twitter, but what will certainly get our attention are those ventures eager to be unique in their particular industry."
